Hi,

is any one who has installed ParrotSec OS-64bit?
I have downloaded the ISO after using dd there is no sign of booting by my USB,
I have tried for multiple times. the image seems complete(8.3 G) and I have re-downloaded
it to be sure.
( I have also used "multisystems software" to handle this, however unfortunately it does not support it!)

any idea for this?

Hello,

I am not sure whether an ISO image "burned" to an USB stick will boot. You can try to boot the ISO in a virtual machine if you don't want to burn it on a CD/DVD media.

AFAIK there are USB sticks incapable of booting anything from them.

hi

I have tried an old version during the last winter.
The iso is not so big (1.8 Go and not 8.3Go! ) http://sourceforge.net/projects/parrots ... files/0.9/
I've used "Lili" to boot it from a 4Go USB key with no probleme http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
Alternatives http://www.pendrivelinux.com/
It is currently difficult to find more maintained pentest distro than Kali.

thanks,
it is not the problem with USB as I have booted other OSs with it before.
so I will try Lili, thanks, that was my fault about the size!:)

and about Kali, I am using kali now but I have many problems with its access policy,
for example opening gedit with root access for editing system files and many small annoying
problems !!:(

So more important question, how can I install Parrotsec beside my Windows?
Ubuntu could detect Windows and asks about it , but it seems Parrot does not?

thanks,

I have following partitions now.
-a 367 MB ntfs which i don t know what it is?
-C(Windows 8 ) partition
-D partition
-E a big (4 G) empty partition (for Parrot)
- 40 Gig unpartitioned.(which I have made it for swap..but I don't know how can i do it)

I don't know how should I configure following, which is asked in graphical manual installation:
1- should I make E as root file system ?
with which file system?EXt4 journaling or Ex2 or....?
should the mount point be /?

2- what is UEFI partition? Doesn't Windows have such partition?
which file system?
should it be shared with Windows?
3- which is swap partition?
is it exclusively for linux or Windows has it too?

:) thanks for your time, I have googled much ...but nothing good is explained about details..I wish I have Wubi for Parrot...
